Funny, but it looks like Photoshop might have done some of the building :-)

I really doubt it was a screw up, i'm positive it was purposely done in the name of art. Why else would the numbers in the circle be perfectly carved out?

I've seen this picture before, but without the carved circle/numbers. The extra step may be true, but the rest is definitvely photoshopped.

It couldn't have been too literal since the dotted rounded square was not placed...

but it was placed. if you look carefully at the top left corner of the strange angled step, you can see 2 of the dashes from the curved-edge rectangle that's in the drawing
